和 E.O.E.) Conquest V.H.P.
As the Official Timekeeper of the World Cup and Alpine World Ski Championships, Longines has long been a key player in competitive skiing. The Swiss watchmaking brand is proud to include Mikaela Shiffrin among its most talented Ambassadors of Elegance.
As a representative of Longines since 2014, the American skier discovered the brand's know-how through its museum and production workshops during an April 2018 visit to its Saint-Imier headquarters in Switzerland. Mikaela Shiffrin took full advantage of the occasion to personalize her own watch from the Conquest collection, which symbolizes the brand's commitment to the world of sports and its long tradition as sports timekeeper. Combining its defining values of elegance and performance, this collection has continued to grow steadily over the years.
As a privileged partner of the ski world for nearly a century, Longines presents a new variation of its Conquest line, personalised by its Ambassador of Elegance, skier Mikaela Shiffrin. Like the many slopes she has conquered, the blue aventurine dial of the Conquest Chronograph by Mikaela Shiffrin evokes the glitter of snow crystals, while the dashes of red on the timepiece recall the colours of the American flag, honouring the champion's home country. Offering a subtle blend of performance and elegance, the entire Conquest collection reflects the bond that unites Longines and the world of sports.
Mikaela Shiffrin was eager to bring a touch of her own dynamic and elegant personality to the watch’s design. “When I visited Saint-Imier and discovered the complexity behind these watches, I was delighted to participate in the creation of my own watch,” said the Longines Ambassador of Elegance during the watch’s October 2018 unveiling in Sölden for the opening of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. “I am proud to lend my name to a Longines timepiece. The Conquest Chronograph by Mikaela Shiffrin reflects my sporting character without compromising its feminine styling.”
The blue aventurine dial of the Conquest Chronograph by Mikaela Shiffrin, along with hints of red on the chronograph’s flange and hands, evoke the colours of the American flag, honoring the skier's home country and her famous ski suit. For the first time, Longines is offering a dial made of aventurine, a fine gemstone with colours that shift and come to life under variations in light. The glitter evokes the sparkling snow cover that drapes the ski slopes carved out by this champion.
The caseback of the Conquest Chronograph by Mikaela Shiffrin features a special engraving that shows the racing skier's silhouette, along with her signature. To enhance the sporty and technical style, this unique piece comes with a steel bracelet and a case designed specifically for the occasion, featuring the timepiece's main colours and the Ambassador of Elegance's own signature.
In honour of its rich history, Longines has drawn inspiration from a 1940’s watch model to create The Longines Heritage Military. True to the original lines of a timepiece designed for the British Royal Air Force, this sleek, reimagined watch belongs to a timeless style that has made the winged hourglass brand famous. To reproduce the original timekeeper’s patina, the dial on the military watch has been hand sprayed with tiny black droplets, making each and every piece unique.
Proud to celebrate its history and achievements, Longines is expanding its Heritage collection with a reimagined military model from the 1940s. The Longines Heritage Military draws its inspiration from a watch created for members of the British Royal Air Force (RAF). Stanley Turner, a highly-decorated radiotelegraph operator aboard an RAF aircraft during the Second World War, wore this model around his wrist. The watch once owned by Mr. Turner was recovered and offered to the Swiss brand by a young English collector, who inspired the current reissue. Thus, Longines is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the RAF in its own way.
With its minimalist design and 38.5 mm diameter, The Longines Heritage Military flawlessly adheres to the refined aesthetic and spirit of the period timepiece which, at the time, measured 32.5 mm. Its oversized winding crown evokes the original watch’s ease of handling.
The Longines Heritage Military also displays a silver, opaline dial with a subtle mist of fine droplets in black paint. This process, a first for Longines and performed entirely by hand, makes each and every piece unique while mimicking the oxidation found on the original. Despite housing an automatic movement, this timekeeper is the only piece in Longines’ current collections that does not carry the “Automatic” label on its dial in order to preserve the spirit of the 1940s.
Remaining true to the watch worn by Stanley Turner and his RAF colleagues, The Longines Heritage Military features a curved, fully polished bezel and box-form sapphire crystal. The steel casing that houses the automatic movement (L888.2) comes with a green, aged leather watch strap, and a Nato strap in the same shades. Both versions of the strap are provided with each timepiece, along with the required replacement tool, all of which come in a case specially designed for the occasion.
In homage to the watchmaking tradition it has carried on for more than 185 years, Longines has chosen to revisit the historical pieces that helped solidify its international reach. Now, the winged hourglass brand is bringing its first diver watch - a 1959 timepiece - back to life. The Longines Skin Diver Watch reflects the sleek aesthetic of the original model while offering high-performing, contemporary technical features. This new watch is an enthusiastic tribute to the timelessness of the Saint-Imier watchmaker’s creations and its ability to spotlight history through art and elegance.
The Longines historic collection regularly serves as the brand’s inspiration for the creation of new models, in particular its Heritage re-editions. Now, Longines is breathing new life into its first diver watch, a 1959 piece that was introduced at a time when water sports were becoming extremely popular. Reliable and elegant, the model would be a great success among diving enthusiasts. The Longines Skin Diver Watch derives its essence from this emblematic timepiece that made an important mark on the company’s history.
This new creation preserves the spirit and clean lines of the original model while benefiting from the brand’s watchmaking expertise. It features high-performing, contemporary technical characteristics, such as sapphire crystal, a screwed-in crown and back for water resistance up to 300 metres, and a highly reliable automatic L888 calibre, produced exclusively for Longines.
The Longines Skin Diver Watch features the sober aesthetic typical of diver watches. Its 42mm steel case is characterised by its striking unidirectional bezel coated in black PVD and enhanced with markers, including a luminescent triangle, which serves as the main indicator for calculating immersion time. Its grained black dial, topped with domed sapphire crystal, features indexes, Arabic numerals and hands covered in Super LumiNova® to ensure optimal reading of time in line with the demands of the discipline. Like the original model, a stamped diver logo adorns the back of this piece. Customers can choose between a black rubber strap with a criss-crossed finish, a Milanese-style steel bracelet, or a natural brown leather strap to complete the look of this characterful watch.
The Longines Skin Diver Watch will delight fans of water sports who want to wear a high-performing timepiece but refuse to compromise on elegance.
