-

The Longines Future Ski Champions project forms part of several activities undertaken by Longines to support youth through sport and to encourage the discovery of young talent. Organised together with the International Ski Federation (FIS), the first edition took place in 2013 in Val d’Isère and brought together fourteen young athletes (U16) from fourteen different countries. They were invited to take part in a giant slalom down the official World Cup competition slope, the mythical Face de Bellevarde.
The infrastructure and timekeeping conditions were identical to those of the official races, offering these young athletes an exceptional experience. The winner received a Longines watch and a trophy and his Federation received a cheque for $20’000 earmarked for investment in its activities for young skiers.

Representing Croatia, William Vukelic was crowned the Longines Future Ski Champion 2013. He mastered the slope in 1:14:50. The podium was completed by the French skier Jérémie Lagier, who arrived only 0.08 seconds behind and by the Swiss skier Semyel Bissig placed third 0.64 seconds behind.
